There has been a recent spate of limousine fires and one limo hire company owner even tells of how he drove one of his limousines away from the rest of the fleet, while it was burning, to stop the fire spreading. Lyn Thompson and her children ran for their lives when one of their limousines was set on fire right next to their house. Her life and those of her young children were in danger late at night when Mr Thompson was working on one of their limos and his wife had already put their children to bed.
As Mrs Thompson was going to bed around midnight that night, she saw a limousine just outside her bedroom window become engulfed in flames. She had gone to bed while her husband was still at work and wonders if the arsonists waited until they knew she was home alone.
Regardless, Mrs Thompson heard the sound of a door, a whoosh of what she now knows to be flames, and saw an orange glow. The young family got out of their house as quickly as they could, worried that the limousine could explode at any time. The fire crew which attended were able to put the flames out before they reached the family home.
Even though their 30 foot limousine was set alight in three different places to ensure a fierce blaze, the family run company was not going to give up. They have even been offered support from other local limo hire companies to help them meet the bookings they would have had to cancel with one limousine out of action. The string of arson attacks have come at the busiest time in the limousine industry with end of year parties and prom season upon them.
