Princess Dianas Chauffeur to Blame
For over ten years, the ‘People’s Princess’ has continued to dominate the headlines even though she has passed away. Most of the intrigue has surrounded the night that Diana died and perhaps some of the media attention will die down, now that an official verdict has been reached in the cause of the accident.
The inquest into the accident wrapped up and the jury had been deliberating, to come to the conclusion that Princess Diana and her partner, Dodi al-Fayed were unlawfully killed by the grossly negligent driving of their chauffeur, and because of the paparazzi photographers who pursued them into the Paris tunnel over ten years ago.
The jury had spent almost six months listening to over 250 witness statements, delivered from around the world. Princes William and Harry also thanked the jury for their thorough consideration of the evidence. While Britain’s former police chief John Stevens has hoped that the trial and the verdict will bring closure to the conspiracy theories which have surrounded Diana’s death, Dodi’s father, Mohamed al-Fayed has theories of his own.
Mohamed al-Fayed has accused Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philip of ordering the British secret services to have her killed, to stop her marrying a Muslim and having his baby. Mr al-Fayed insisted that Diana herself had predicted that she would be murdered and that the Queen and Prince Philip should have been called as witnesses too, saying that ‘No one should be above the law’.
On the night that the couple died, Diana and Dodi had fled through the back entrance of the Ritz Hotel in Paris to avoid swarms of paparazzi who were waiting for them. They were then pursued by motorbikes into the Alma tunnel where their Mercedes limousine smashed into the infamous pillar 13. Henri Paul, their chauffeur was an employee of the Ritz Hotel, owned by al-Fayed and tragically Paul died in the crash too.
